Our Summer Concert will bring you visions of French love, beginning with Lalo’s overture to his opera Le roi d’Ys (The King of Ys) – a tale of unrequited love and jealousy. Massenet’s Scenes Hongroises, set around a wedding scene, brings a touch of exotica to the theme, and our 26/27 season ends in dramatic style with the ground-breaking sounds of Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique – full of romantic notions and spellbinding visions of love that alludes to the romantic sufferings of a gifted artist.
