The opening concert of our 2025/2026 season will see us joined once again by Bury Choral Society in a concert with an American theme, which begins with An Outdoor Overture by Aaron Copland – born 125 years ago. The beautiful Adagio for strings/Agnus Dei follows, composed by Samuel Barber – born 110 years ago – before Bury Choral Society’s pianist Jonathan Ellis performs Gershwin’s iconic and ground-breaking Rhapsody in Blue. The second half of the concert will showcase the third of Coleridge-Taylor’s Hiawatha trilogy, Hiawatha’s Departure – premièred 125 years ago featuring soloists and chorus from Bury Choral Society..
