2026-2027 Season Concerts

Our next Concert Season has just been finalised and will be another celebration of anniversaries and all that is great in classical music. We will be marking the 200th anniversary of the death of Beethoven by performing two of his greatest works, including the Symphony No. 5 in C minor. We will celebrate the lives of Borodin, Massenet and Lalo, and mark the anniversaries of the compositions of Caprice Bohémien by Rachmaninov and Symphony No. 1 by Martinů, plus the premiere of Francesca di Rimini by Tchaikovsky.

Gorton Philharmonic will once again be expertly led by popular Musical Director Juan Ortuño, now in his 15th season. His sunny disposition and infectious enthusiasm will guarantee you leave our concerts smiling!

We will shine a spotlight on lesser-known composers such as Henri Wienawski, Augusta Holmes and GPO member Chris Irvin, as well as popular composers Berlioz and Liszt, in concerts focused on music relating to Bohemia, Fate, Royal connections and Visions of French love.

Artur Periera

We will be welcoming back virtuoso pianist Jonathan Ellis to perform Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1. and we’re delighted and honoured that imternationally-renowned Beethoven interpreter Artur Periera will be returning to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat ‘Emperor’. We will also be welcoming another superb soloists to perform the Fantasie brilliante on themes from ‘Faust’  by Wienawski.
